Fighting to keep your data.
Ever feel like you are constantly fighting with companies to keep your data safe?
Do you feel bombarded by the endless torrent of surveys, privacy policies and "Features" designed to collect your information?
With the recent release of (link) Windows 10, Microsoft has committed itself fully to the Data Fight with it's desire to scoop up vast amounts of your information.
Lenovo (link) has been caught twice in the same year using dubious techniques on their hardware, one of which was for increasing advertising revenue.
At the start of this year the UK Prime Minister David Cameron (Link) said he wanted to outlaw encryption, so far this has not come to pass but when the people in charge are thinking like this, what hope do we have?
Finally, we have Facebook quietly harvesting data on its users and running psychological experiments (Link) on its users, they then act surprised when the public react badly when they reveal said experiments.
What are we all doing about it? Microsoft announced over 75 million PCs now run Windows 10, Imagine what percentage have not even considered privacy settings?
When you engage with a company, what information are they harvesting about you? When you go to buy a product from an online store, are you consenting for them to sell your details on to a third party?
When was the last time you checked the privacy settings on Facebook/Google Plus/LinkedIn etc?
We are giving it all up to the corporations, the digital marketing machines of the 21st century and letting them harvest it without contest. Every now and then privacy wins the battle but ultimately the war has been lost.
If you don't believe me, name one company you can use that is not actively collecting your data in the comments below and I'll show you how they are harvesting it from you.
