Raspberri Pi Has an Official Case

It's easy to say that the Raspberry Pi has been a huge success!  It was originally designed to provide a more affordable computing platform for schools.  With budgets being a huge struggle for schools all around the world, the group behind the Raspberry Pi foundation wanted to provide something that is extremely low cost and durable.  Hence, the device many of us know and love today was born.

What makes the Raspberry Pi so popular, besides it's low cost and decent power, is that it allows for hobbyists to integrate it with their projects.  People have done tons of things with these devices, from running a Minecraft server, to websites and even delivering tasty drinks.  You can just search for crazy Raspberry Pi projects to all the possibilities that a cheap computing platform can provide.

The one tough part about the Raspberry Pi though, is that you have to pick up a case separately.  Granted, there are kits out there that come with everything you need for your Pi, or even purchase a Pi with it, but it's not always obvious what case to get.  Seriously, there are tons of them to choose from, and how effective they are can vary.  So it's nice to see that the Raspberry Pi foundation is now providing an official case.

From a design perspective, this thing is beautiful.  It's a simple design that offers good protection to the device itself and allows for easy access.  They even offered a convertible top so you can allow for better airflow.  If you're able to get your hands on it, the case is selling for £5.99 (~$10 US) from RS Online, or $14 on Amazon.  I haven't been able to pick up a RPi myself yet, but have been thinking about it for a while to possibly use as a home theater PC.  How many of you picked up a R Pi and what projects have you done with your's?  Do you plan on picking up one of the official cases?.  I haven't been able to pick up a RPi myself yet, but have been thinking about it for a while to possibly use as a home theater PC.  How many of you picked up a R Pi and what projects have you done with your's?  Do you plan on picking up one of the official cases?
