Blood Omen Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Blood Omen 2. Soul Reaver 2. Legacy Of Kain Defiance. Blood Rayne. Games of a totally awesome nature. Placing your butt firmly in your chair or couch, zoning out to a world of Vampires, with skills unmatched fueled by badassery. Telekinetic abilities that you don't really see in video games any more. Until Dark produced by Kalypso comes out, ready for a second awakening of a vampire frenzy in the dark and seedy underworld of vampires? Hell yeah I am, lets do it.
Dark is going to be great right? I mean its a new version of a classic game series that was so badass, what could possibly go wrong? How about... everything. I barely got far into this game, with only 44 minutes played and absolutely no desire to ever turn this pile of crap back on, its really hard for me to give a full review. It was just too horrible. Sure it had some sneaking around abilities and some of the nuances of olden days, but it was choppy, graphically it looks way beyond dated, I mean these are similar graphics to that you'd find in a turn of the millennium Matrix game. Who the hell got paid to make this?
Not to go too far into my complete and total disgust in this matter, but who wrote the script? And who programmed the pauses between voice actors speaking? Because fun fact, there are no pauses its the second one person stops talking the second person starts, without any logical pause or natural feel to it. The "conversations" become one giant monologue coming from different peoples faces. "How did I become a vampire? No-one knows what vampires really are but they are something" Brilliant. Literary genius spewed forth from the tables of a kindergarten class room.
I had such high expectations, due to previous adventures I've explored in the land of vampires, but now I'm left with this? To top it off there is little to no challenge in this game at all, you can put it on demonically insane child slaughter difficult and hand it to an infant and they'd be able to beat it for you before bed time. What? To make it worse the story you're suppose to follow along with is a cookie cutter crap fest. Hero with amnesia, wow... original right? Graphics don't make a game, but you can't take dated tech, with poor story, poor controls, poor voice acting, and for god sake not even the ability to structure a conversation properly. Seriously what the hell is that?
If you're like me and you desire a fully functional story, a fully functional game, and something you can get into without wanting to punch children mercelessly after playing 45 seconds of, do NOT pick up this game. It was a complete and utter failure, a serious mistake on my behalf.
