Minecon News (Day 1) - Story Mode and Windows 10 Version

Today is the first day of Minecon (you can watch the stream here).  As a huge fan of Minecraft (I run my own server community), I've been looking forward to Minecon starting to hear all the news that will be coming out.  So far, it's been huge!

The first big piece is an update on TellTale Games' new project, Minecraft: Story Mode.  While I haven't played any of TellTale Games' other games, I know they are huge hits and I personally couldn't wait to see how this was going to work out.  They released a trailer below and can't wait to get my hands on this!!!

The story for Story Mode has been shared as well.
Players will control protagonist Jesse throughout the season, as portrayed by actor Patton Oswalt. Jesse and his group of friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone; four adventurers who slayed an Ender Dragon. The Order is the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. While at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends discover that something is wrong... something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and they must set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone if they are to save their world from oblivion.
The other big news is that with the release of Windows 10, Mojang will also release Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta.  Some of the cool features is the ability to use a controller, play with friends on a local LAN or through Xbox Live, play with Pocket Edition players and a built in DVR feature for recording!  If you already have a Minecraft account, you'll get Windows 10 Edition for free.  If not, it's $10.  To get this version of Minecraft, download it from the Windows Store.

While on one hand it's a shame Minecraft is being fragmented a bit more with another version, I'm hoping that with Microsoft's push, Mojang will eventually get all the different editions on the same page and there that experiences can carry from one device to another.  This is Microsoft's push with Windows 10, Mobile and Xbox, just have to wait and see!

  1. Ok that's pretty cool, I love mine craft that's a given fact. But story mode could be pretty interesting.
