I don't normally get too excited about TV shows before they come out, normally like the rest of the world I see a preview or a trailer and think "sure I'll give that a watch, maybe I'll DVR it to check it out." Never really excited about anything new. Then as if every blog post about how I hate Hollywood was grabbed by some magical box office magician, the script was flipped. The previews, the sneak peaks, the accurate depiction of a hacker... can this be real?
We actually get to see real hacking practices, from TOR exit node information, and standard social engineering attacks.
The show follows a young computer programmer named Elliot around. A young man with a small drug problem, but wicked skilled when it comes to programming and hacking. He gets recruited by a man who calls himself "Mr.Robot", and anarchist. Elliot is socially inept for the most part and his only real way of interacting with other people is by... hacking them and getting to know them a little first.
The reason I'm so excited about this was the actual trailer, for once the land of hacking wasn't tainted with ignorant CGI prettiness, but instead employed actual verbiage and terminology that had me go "wow." I'll put the video below this paragraph because I can go into an explanation about how good this show SHOULD be, but I think its better for you to experience on your own. Enjoy the following video, comment and share below, and as always be safe my goblins.
